if you're seriously bored out of your mind and the concept of jabbing sharp objects into your eyes and/or throat sounds deliciously tempting, you might need this.
1. when you label something, draw it. i have a large folder that fancy ladies put admitting sheets and insurance copies in so i can tediously scan them in all day long. instead of writing "to scan" on large letters on the front, i drew it. let's explore:
t- a decorative T that could be on a charm bracelet
o- a donut.
s- the superman sign
c- cookie monster, eating a cookie. obviously.
a- a scrabble letter a
n- an actual ninja stabbing the letter N. (what a fail. if i was drawing a real ninja, you couldn't see it.)
2. make up secret codes with people on other floors. the CMU unit knows, and it's only between us. our phone calls are short and to the point, and we always know.. just what they want.
3. make a best friend that you've never seen. if a certain somebody keeps calling from the same floor, answer the phone with a, "hey best friend!" and, effortlessly, you are now best friends. first name basis.
4. explore the cupboards. (not your co-worker's drawers; this is different, community property.) just an example of the few things i've come upon:
• a box of 64 crayons with a black sharpied label that says STAFF ONLY.
• a quesadilla maker
• an iron
• taco shells
• and what appears to be a large flag of "the people's republic of china"
go crazy.
5. claim your cups. if you and your co-workers all have the same white foam 32oz cups laying around, and you often drink out of each other's (on accident!), i suggest you claim it. how? write a silly message on other people's cups, such as "the best part of waking up is kjera in your cup!" or drawing a large, snarling face on your own. it helps the sanity.
6. customize. i got tired of the chinese lanterns and sparkly easter eggs, so i made paper flowers out of yellow folders. it works.
7. pin. i'm not talking about pinterest, but that works too. it appears as if someone has tacked a "san diego chargers" 2011 season schedule on our board, right under "quick access directory" and "how to register fetal autopsies." go kjera!
and, further, make up your own. enjoy!
Fantastic. I can't wait to see the new decor! ;)
