a break in the monotony

last night both nick and i made a breakthrough.
i walked into the house and dear mr was on the couch reading a book.
what?

to say the least, this was unexpected.
but then we had our usual, "what do you want for dinner?
i dunno. what do you want?
i dunno, what sounds good?
...what do we have?"
then we sit down to a plate of potstickers and edamame while we watch the office.
this is normal behavior in the hammer household.
but, unexpectedly, nick turns off the tv and keeps reading.
i almost can't believe it.
my tv man is glued to a book.
and then i realized that maybe i had something else to offer this world except lazy couch ness,
and i finished knitting a bright green beanie that i'd been doing at work.
i put a flower on it and called it good enough, and went to bed
where nick was still reading.
and since i had extra time to myself, i actually washed my face before bed.
i'm awful at that.
but it was fantastic. it was un-normal of us, but i loved it.
i'm sure nick did too, because instead of escaping silently out of bed this morning, like he usually does to watch some game shows before i lazily crawl out of bed, he was still reading.
and that's where we spent the whole day reading the same book together at the same time.
reading.
guys, miracles do happen!
